Behind the voice loop sits a platform: accounts, sessions, scheduled jobs, the activity log, connections to sixteen external services and counting. You will build the boring parts beautifully, so everything else can move fast.
What you will own
Own the platform services — auth, billing, scheduling, the activity log
Build and maintain connectors: Slack, GitHub, Notion, Linear, and the rest
Design APIs that the app, the daemon, and the agents all share
Keep the platform stateless where the box is the source of truth
Hold the line on reliability — operators notice downtime professionally
What you bring
5+ years of backend work in production
Strong API design instincts — versioning, idempotency, pagination
Experience integrating third-party APIs at scale, with their failure modes
You've maintained an OAuth integration through a breaking change

About Gray
Gray is voice-first AI you operate like a terminal. You speak; it runs real work across your machines — SSH sessions, multi-agent jobs, files, scheduled tasks — then speaks back. It is self-hosted, private by architecture, and built for the people who run the internet’s plumbing. Gray is made by Layer Gray, Inc.
